Sweet Baby Emilia’s mom and grandmother brought her to the studio for her newborn portraits. She was a bit older then most of the newborns that I shoot, so naturally I hoped for the very best as I posed her in many of the favorite newborn poses, and just as I suspected she was a doll baby and handled those poses like she was fresh out of the womb. Typically once a baby is past the 20 day mark they tend to be a bit more awake and have developed more muscle tone and strength, which is a very good thing but that muscle tone can sometimes prevent the babies from laying in some of the newborn poses that we all love because they have basically .. grown out of the curly stage, where they shape into their fetal position so easily. But not miss E, she was born for the camera and was happy to pose any way we wanted and slept straight through. You know I’m starting to think parents are booking these session just so babies can sleep for a few hours and they can relax a bit… which is additionally a service that just seems to come along with it and Im happy to provide the “break” of rocking that baby to sleep. I mean, I will take all the baby snuggles I can get, its the very best part of this job… you bring me the babies, I will snuggle them and create beautiful images!

I loved my time photographing this session, however as with most of my sessions my very favorite part was the session premier when both parents come back to the studio and see their images and watch the slideshow and choose their images. I love seeing their reaction! Even more exciting is Emilia will be joining the baby club as a Watch me grow baby, as an Annapolis Newborn Photographer I love nothing more then when my babies come back again and again, I love documenting them as they grow!
