Last week I had the privilege of capturing a Maternity Portrait session for my Brother in law and his wife. We had planned for a different date however thanks to Maryland weather and the constant changing from one season to another we quickly rescheduled it to another night and I am so glad that we did. The sunset couldn’t have been more beautiful, the beach was perfect, and the air… well it was a bit chilly but we had such a wonderful time. The parents to be chose Matapeak Beach for their Maternity Portrait session since this was the location they were married at almost 5 years prior so what better time to return to the place they became Husband and Wife to capture their images before welcoming that sweet baby and becoming Mom and Dad!
As a Stevensville Maryland Maternity Photographer I get a bit nervous when I know I have to get over the bridge in a certain amount of time, due to all of the bridge traffic, and this time was no different.. thankfully I had left with enough time to get here, and a tiny delay only added to more time for the sun to sink nice and low to get those amazing shadows and deep orange tones in the sunset.
Matapeak Beach offers so many great areas to capture portraits from the rock barrier , the beach, the Bay Bridge backdrop, the beach house (read: Mansion house) the evergreens… all the way to the gorgeous while columns and water fountain on the property. We walked around, rather ran around both to keep ourselves warm and to beat the setting sun, and captured all of our images before running out of great lighting. I was beyond thrilled to capture these Maternity Portraits, and am equally excited for the Newborn session in just a few short weeks!
