Annapolis Wedding Photographer Behind the Scenes 2019

On of my very favorite things at the end of the year is going back through the folder labeled ” BTS”. This is our behind the scenes folder, and even though we only take a few here or there they start to add up until there is a whole bunch of funny photos, or rather a whole bunch of Sarah with RBF. Guys!!!!! Every single year that I write this post, I tell myself… next year…. no more RBF, but gosh darn-it, this is just what my face does. I am telling you that nine times out of ten, I am not upset or angry about anything, however when I am in work work, especially at weddings, my face tells a different story… it’s kind of embarrassing, but it’s also kind of funny. What is more funny is remembering what was happening while the image was being taken, what funny thing was said, or what crazy things just went down….. and then trying to caption the photos for this post… it’s actually lots of laughs over here while writing this post. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do. Team SMP has changed and evolved so much over the years, from assistants, to interns, second shooters, associate photographers… We always have a blast, I always have RBF .. it’s just the way that it is….. Caught ya… steven testing light out at the Annapolis Yacht Club

It’s true, as an Annapolis Newborn Photographer, I really just want to snuggle your baby, and of course take some great shots too but mostly.. I do it for the snuggles.

Sure, why not I’ll take one of you taking one of me…. this could be a thing.

While most times I do enjoy being somewhat professional in my clothing choices….. in August, when its 90% humidity, and Im going to be getting in the river with your kids, this is about as good as it’s going to get.

This is the face I make when I am reminded that I forgot bug spray and Im headed down to the river…. Im about to get bit up real bad.

Sometimes my assistants carry my bags and sometimes they carry my clients bags… either way things are getting carried.

When you’re a bit tired of back to back sessions, but a client calls and offers Starbucks on their way… hmmmm what to order!!!

Oh who even knows what was going on here, I have quite a lot of expressions, some i don’t even know.

I mean lets just update your headshot while we wait on clients to arrive.

Let me test out the light on you real quick

When your second shooter develops a bond with brides son, you quickly get a second and third shooter on your team.

Let’s test out some shots with gels, and pretend that you’re the lead of your own band….. it could be fun

When you’re diabetic, and the dessert at the wedding is a donut wall, and every single person in the wedding party keeps offering you one.

Alright, we shall try it again…. I’ll take this one of you this time.

When you are photographing a power washing company, and all the dudes want to just start driving at once, you also start to direct traffic.

but it’s ok they didn’t listen and just rolled out anyway.

I’m going to get hit I just know it.

This guy rocks out some really great table setting and tablescape shots.

Half of my life is spent behind this computer in my office, either editing your sessions or responding to emails…

Sometimes he carry’s my gear, sometimes he carry’s my clients bags, and sometimes he is also a dog sitter.

One of my favorite parts of the day is getting the dress out for the first time, taking in just how beautiful it is, and photographing it.

When you just cannot get a brides silver necklace to stay closed in the clasp. you wrap a teeny tiny strip of ducktape on it to hold it secure.

well would you look at that, here comes the RBF, it’s just gonna get worse … I do it way too much. Amber is not only a beautiful bride, she’s a personal friend of mine and I loved so much being a part of her day.

Holy moly… would ya just look at that…… she’s smiling in a photo on a wedding day and the RBF isn’t anywhere to be seen.

Sometimes some real crazy stuff can go on during a wedding day, once we all watch it happen it’s usually good for some laughs.

Thankfully I don’t really have to be in the photos once I turn into a sweaty mess.

I don’t know the question…. but I bet it had something to do with someone drinking too much before the wedding…. this happens a lot on wedding days.

See, like why on earth is it even necessary for me to make these faces, I mean lets just blame it on the bright sun ok.

When the brides family member recently passed away and then a butterfly wont leave from the ceremony site the whole time… you photograph it heavily.

I’m telling you… I am happy, I love my job.. this is minutes before the ceremony of course I am happy.. but geez these looks.

 

Over all it was an incredible year, we had so much fun photographing your moments, laughing with you behind the scenes, repairing dresses, fixing jewelry.. with ducktape… and so much more…. every wedding has fun memories, laughter and stories from our vantage point….. but we are honored to be a part of your beautiful day!
