Annapolis Newborn Photographer | Cook Fresh 48

You would think after years of working in the Hospital, especially the Labor and Delivery Unit that the hype would have died down a bit for me, but the excitement I have when I receive the text that one of my clients booked for a fresh 48 hospital session has delivered is very real, and seems to actually grow more with each Fresh 48 session that I shoot. Something about know these are a tiny humans very first portraits, that these documented memories will be among some of the very first to ever be captured by a camera. That a mother who will, due to exhaustion mostly, come to forget much of what all went on during her hospital stay and will have these photos to remind her.  I get consumed by the excitement in the room, and by the joy of those sitting outside of the room waiting in anticipation with flowers and balloons and gift bags holding the tiniest of all outfits you ever will see.

When I enter the room the clients are so full of joy, proud new dads are beaming with excitement to tell me the size and name of his new boy, or mamas so tired, but so full of adrenaline want to tell me step by step of just how this sweet miracle entered the world. It’s an incredible time of laughter, and diaper changes, tender moments, and so many smiles. I right away begin photographing the sweet new baby, the reason we are all there and as usual it reminds me of the times I was in those same rooms delivering my own children, it floods me with emotion and reminds me just how powerful and miraculous the welcoming of a new life really is.
