When I shoot first birthday sessions and cake smash sessions it so exciting to see a sweet baby who is turning ONE, its an incredible time.. but to me its even more special for a first time mama… I feel like I should be photographing her the whole time, in a congratulatory way, as if to say … YOU MADE IT… your survived the first year, and you did it well! That first year on a first baby comes with zero instructions, way too many people giving you advice, lots of tears, tender moments, tough moments, moments that you question did you do the right thing, its also full of joy, incredible joy, overwhelming joy, but then often followed by intense mom guilt, you feel a sense of terror from time to time, there will be nights that keep you up wondering how you will survive without any sleep, and then suddenly that teeny baby you brought home in a muslin swaddling blanket will start walking, and talking, and eating from a spoon…. and then turn ONE… you did it mama, you made it to the first year, and you may even be considering doing it all over again for another!!!! You deserve cake too!!!!
(We clearly know dads play a huge role in the first year too I dont ever want to discredit that but that’s a post for another day)
Last time I photographed this handsome fella he was just a teeny tiny newborn, its incredible how fast time passes and then they are off running and smashing cakes. Happy Birthday sweet Cullen, I wish you all the best the world has to offer a little guy like you!
