I get so excited when I have FRESH 48 sessions with my clients and their brand new babies! I’m, not sure what it is about them, I mean of course there is the new baby aspect to it.. but, its something else. I’m not sure if its because I once was a labor & delivery nurse and this allows me a little slice of time back into that environment or if its because of all of the raw emotion, because quite frankly, that really is my favorite aspect of photography. The time that surrounds a new baby’s delivery is somewhat of a blur. Its full of emotion, pain, joy, and so many other aspects of this experience. So much happens in such a short time, with people who usually very sleep deprived and have been at this for quite some time, that often times many parts of this experience of this momentous occasion are forgotten about or if a family member is photographing then they loose out on being a part of what is going on in an effort to keep up with the portraits.

As a mom of two I can tell you that even if you want to remember every little detail, you just cant. You forget certain things, or think they happened differently… that is where these images come in, and why they hold such value. Not only do you have the opportunity to have memories and moments and emotions captured for a lifetime, But, you get to see yourself in these moments, you can see this event from a different vantage point, and Im telling you every emotion comes rushing over you all over again.

This sweet session was no different, I find myself in the shadows of the room getting caught up in everything going on, the euphoric over whelming feeling swirling around us as a new mama breathes in her new baby, and stares into the face she spent nights dreaming about. Congratulations Thompson family she is just perfection with a cherry on top!
