Happy Anniversary weekend to this insanely attractive man of mine!!!
This weekend, my husband and I are taking a little time away to celebrate our Anniversary.
Anyone who knows me knows one thing...
I absolutely LOVE love.
Whether it’s the excitement of a proposal, the joy of a wedding day, the chaos of family life, or welcoming a brand-new baby into the world... every story begins with love.
So while I’m away celebrating my own, I wanted to celebrate yours too!

Annapolis newborn Photographer | Being prepared for your Newborn Session

Annapolis newborn Photographer | Being prepared for your Newborn Session

I get it, I do. Choosing your Newborn Photography can be a daunting task, then once you find one you hope that you feel very comfortable going into your session… Being prepared, I know it sounds cliche to quote the great Alexander Graham Bell ” Before anything else, preparation is the key to success”, but its honestly the truth! Generally after my client has booked their Newborn or any portrait session for that matter, I review with them a few months out exactly what to expect and how things will look as we move forward. I want my clients to know whats coming, what is expected of them and what they should expect of me, things run smoother and there are far less bumps in the road when we talk about much of it up front. The questions that are not covered in my welcome email or client guide are talked about, then I instruct them that they must inform me from the hospital that the baby has been born, this gives me time to work them into my schedule, and prepare for their shoot. Next I send them out a questionnaire to fill out about their shoot hopes, dreams, and expectations, to again help me better prepare for their session.

Finally a day or two before their session I send my clients and email detailing how they can prepare for the best session possible, explaining that babies do great during their sessions when they are warm and cozy so my studio will be warm dress accordingly, pacifiers work wonders settling babies during their shoot so bring one along, if you arent using one that is ok just be prepared to nurse often. I remind them to bring extra clothing, and stay relaxed, drink lots of water to stay well hydrated, and try to keep baby awake just a bit before coming so they are good and tired. As an Annapolis Newborn Photographer I have worked with so many brand new babies, they are always in my arms or being photographed or in my studio, so its important for my clients to feel at ease and know that its ok if they cry, or get fussy, or we have to rock them, they might poop or pee, and then poop some more.. this happens and its ok no reason for alarm, being prepared, staying calm and enjoying the moment.. these steps will lead to a successful shoot
