When most families think about scheduling portraits, they immediately picture a sunset session. But every now and then, a sunrise portrait session comes along that reminds me just how magical mornings can be.
I’ll admit, setting an early alarm can feel a little intimidating, especially when you have young children. But this sweet family proved exactly why sunrise portrait sessions are so worth it.
One of the biggest benefits? Everyone was well rested. Instead of trying to squeeze photos in after a full day of activities, skipped naps, and tired little ones, the kids arrived refreshed, happy, and ready to play. Those genuine smiles and curious personalities shined through from the very beginning.
Summer mornings also offer another huge advantage, cooler temperatures. We were able to enjoy beautiful, soft morning light without the intense heat and humidity that often comes later in the day. Everyone stayed more comfortable, making the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.
And perhaps my favorite part? Once our session was over, they still had the entire day ahead of them. Instead of ending the day with family photos, they started it by making memories together before heading off to enjoy the rest of their weekend.
Whether it’s chasing little feet through the grass, sharing morning cuddles, or simply slowing down together before the day begins, sunrise portrait sessions have a peacefulness all their own.
If you’ve been hesitant about an early morning session, consider this your sign to give it a try. You might just find it’s the perfect fit for your family.
