Because the little girls in these photographs won’t always be this age. They’ll keep growing, changing, and becoming more of who they are. And that’s exactly why I love photographing these seasons. The flowers will fade. The seasons will change. The girls will grow. But they’ll always have these photographs to remember this little piece of their story. Since re-launching the branch of my business knows as SMP for small businesses, offering local Maryland and not so local, small business photography I have gotten to meet and work with some really incredible people! Small business owners just like me, who are working the hustle every day to create a better experience for their clients and customers. I’d love to introduce you to one of the ladies who is not only my friends but an incredible business woman!

I had the chance to shoot and chat with her, providing  new marketing images as well as learn a little bit more about her businesses… check out what she had to say!

Id like to introduce you to Melanie.. If you are a client of mine especially a bride, you will have heard her name before.. she is an incredible make-up artist who transforms many of my brides, and clients alike for their portraits. She is fun to be around and very knowledgeable. She has a super trendy studio, SHINE,  tucked away in pasadena where you step through the door to escape the day to day stress and enjoy a magical facial. I had one a few months back and my skin was instantly transformed, it felt so smooth and had a youthful glow, I even received a few compliments! Along with facials melanie offers many others services including airbrush tanning, waxing, make-up lessons and more!
Melanie received an award for “Best Facial” in Capital style Bridal readers choice 2016 and is an official sponsor for “Miss Maryland America Pageant”

So sit back and enjoy a little interview I recently had with Melanie-

 Melanie- tell us a little bit about yourself, and why SHINE, what about this drives you? 

“So, SHINE got started because I was ready to branch out on my own.  I’ve been in the beauty business for 12 years. Nothing like being your own boss.  It’s not “work” when you love what you do. I wanted to gear my services to women- hence the Bright pink walls & sparkly things everywhere.  I wanted a place where women feel happy and beautiful- from a simple brow wax to a relaxing spa facial (good both mentally & physically).

Women,  I feel, are the last to treat themselves. As a mom, I understand Family, jobs, errands… Stress…The list never ends.  It’s a great feeling to feel rested, relaxed, beautiful! There’s nothin’ like a little pick me up! 
I love enhancing a woman’s natural beauty & letting them truly SHINE from the inside out. Its also important to me to make sure I am providing awesome customer service & not treating an individual as just another “client”. I get excited to meet new people, and I love learning how I can help someone and feeling the gratitude and appreciation. We both win!  It truly is a rewarding job knowing you may have made someone’s day just a little bit brighter 🙂  
I’m constantly learning & researching new products & services.  I want to bring the latest & greatest services to my clients at an affordable price. 
My goal as a business owner/service provider is for clients & customers  to have a great experience.  It’s important for your well being to invest in yourself! Making clients feel like #1 is important to me, and when I see returning clients, well that’s the real reward! 
What do you enjoy just for you? 
Music is my therapy- all kinds. I love wine & bubble baths, that’s my escape.
Alright girl, fill us in on your splurge?

 I splurge on really good mascara hahaa!!!! Current favorite Dior “Show” otherwise Loreal Voluminous.
