I have recently had the opportunity to capture some of the cutest siblings with their new baby brothers and sister, and I have to say they have been so well behaved. Sometimes when siblings are just a tiny bit older then the Newborns it is hard to capture their attention in a way that allows for me to produce beautiful portraits of them together. I mean, lets face it, a 2 year old sibling is really still a baby too so it would be unfair to try and expect so much out of them. I begin each session with them trying to have fun, get to know them, maybe blow some bubbles, or color! Once they are feeling relaxed and no longer anxious about being in a new place, often times their energy level will calm down a bit and they will be ready to follow instructions and actually sit for a bit. I go into with educating my clients to let them know the above, we can only expect so much out of the tiny guys and anything more just wouldnt be fair, and we have high hopes for great portraits, and will do our best, but nothing is ever a guarantee.
Well, I have been so impressed with the siblings lately, they listen, they sit still, its like they are grown ups in these tiny toddler bodies, … wait, I take that back, sometimes the grown ups even have a hard time follow instructions 😉 This sweet girl was perfection, she listened, she held her baby brother ever so gently, she stayed still, and did it all with a smile on her face with little giggles in between, it was such a joy working with these two. Then when it was time for just baby portraits, ohhhh my this little guy was wonderful. In fact he started the session putting himself to sleep.. I have a strong feeling he may be pretty laid back!
